The social expectations for First Graders are:

  • Be quite in class and in the hallway and pay attention
  • Hands and feet should be still and kept to yourself
  • Eyes should be watching
  • Ears should be listening

Our School Rules are always:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Ready
  • Be Safe

Field Trip Policy:

  • When we go on Field Trips I expect the students to follow the same rules as when we are in school!
  • If the trip needs chaperones I first take into consideration the PTO parents in my classroom because the PTO funds our trips. The PTO president always supplies a list to go off of so I do not miss considering anyone. I decide how many chaperones I need for a safe trip and then pull names from the list of PTO parents. If those parents are not available then I consider other parents in my room.
  • The school’s policy does not allow parents to follow the bus and attend the trip with us. That creates a lot of confusion! The teachers group students with chaperones so that we know a specific person has eyes on your child at all times.  If parents try to follow us and join in, it does not allow those responsible adults to do the job I am asking of them.
  • Once we know what the field trip is, we send guidelines specific to that trip. These would be things like packed lunches, possibility of a gift shop, etc.  Please just read them carefully and follow them.
  • If your child has been a behavior problem in the classroom and I feel they would not be safe if on a trip with us, I do reserve the right to let them at the school.  I would not enjoy doing this and I have never had to let a child at the school but I will do it if I do not see any other way of keeping both your child and all of the other students safe.
