Hello! I am very excited to be serving as the fourth band director at Southern Huntingdon! I graduated from Southern Huntingdon in 2010. While I was a student here, I was involved in marching band, concert band, jazz band, and attended various band festivals. My band director was Mr. Philip Loewen. He was influential in my decision to become a music educator. After I graduated from Southern Huntingdon, I continued my education at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA where I received my B.S. in Music Education. Geneva is located about 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. I participated in marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, the hand bell choir and served as a piano accompanist for studio lessons. I studied trumpet under Mr. Donald B. Kephart. Since graduating from Geneva, I have taken several courses online with VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL. I was enrolled in the professional development program where I took several graduate-level courses on technology, band warm-ups, percussion, ukulele, repertoire & score study, trombone, rhythm, and music program organization.

After I graduated from Geneva, I returned to Southern Huntingdon and began substitute teaching in the spring of 2015. I filled various elementary and secondary positions during my time as a substitute. I was active in the after school program and served on the maintenance staff before being hired into this position. I became a school bus driver in April 2017 and enjoy driving extra-curricular runs for our district.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy serving in my local church with youth ministries and music. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, especially my nephew, Andrew. I have two cats whose names are Mario and Oreo.

I am looking forward to year 6 at Southern Huntingdon! I love teaching music and I am looking forward to making music with your students this year!
