Hello! I am very excited to be serving as the fourth band director at Southern Huntingdon! I graduated from Southern Huntingdon in 2010. While I was a student here, I was involved in marching band, concert band, jazz band, and various band festivals. The legendary Philip Loewen was my band director. He was influential in my decision to become a music educator with the hopes of returning to SHC one day. After I graduated from Southern Huntingdon, I went on to Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA where I spent the next four and a half years. Geneva is located in Beaver County, about 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. While at Geneva, I was active in the marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, and the hand bell choir. Additionally, I was a piano accompanist for instrumental and vocal lessons. I studied trumpet under Mr. Donald B. Kephart. After earning a B.S. in Music Education from Geneva, I have taken several graduate-level courses online at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL. My coursework at VanderCook focused on technology, band warm-ups, percussion performance, teaching & playing ukulele, repertoire & score study, trombone performance, rhythm, and music program organization.

I returned to Southern Huntingdon and began substitute teaching in the Spring of 2015. I filled various elementary and secondary positions during my time as a substitute. I was active in the after school program and substituted in the maintenance department. I became a school bus driver in April 2017. In my spare time, you’ll see me driving bus 59 for extra curricular activities.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy serving in my local church. Weekly youth group meetings, VBS, summer camp, the annual winter lock-in, and the occasional youth outings keep me busy throughout the year! I enjoy playing piano and organ for worship services, too. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, especially my nephew, Andrew. I have two cats whose names are Mario and Oreo.

I am looking forward to year 7 at Southern Huntingdon! I love teaching music and look forward to making music with your students this year!
