Spring Farms Fuel Oil Release Update 4/19/23

Important Announcement! SHCSD

Based upon the test well findings at Spring Farms, the Board voted down the motion to move SF faculty, staff and students back to S.F. at the end of the 23-24 school year first marking period. Well #4 was drilled to a depth of 45 feet with levels of volatiles at 39 to 40 feet. No visual evidence of petroleum was observed. Well #6 was drilled to a depth of 31 feet with a water level of 26 feet. The water did have a petroleum sheen along with a strong fuel odor. In addition to the on-site concerns, a Spring Farms neighbor reported that his personal well was cloudy for two days after well #4 was drilled. The District immediately tested his well and is awaiting results.

Please reference the attached pictures. Well #4 is the orange well cap located in front of Mr. Hall. Well #6 is adjacent to the white bucket and the school’s well is where Mr. Hall is standing.

At 6:30 p.m. on May 10th, the Board will hold a special voting meeting.  The motion of business will be to vote on Spring Farms faculty, staff and students remaining at the HS/MS for the 23-24 school year. The only combined class will be Kindergarten and all elementary classes will be assigned to one general area of the building.
