About Me:

I was born and raised in Altoona, PA. I received my Associate of Arts in Bible from Lancaster Bible College. I received my Bachelor of Science and my special education certification from Lock Haven University of PA. I have been teaching as a special education teacher for 25 years. 24 of those years have been at Southern Huntingdon County School District. I am also involved in the Pioneer Clubs program at Altoona Bible Church. I work with junior/senior high students Wednesday nights.

Classroom Rules:

  • Raise your hand for questions, to sharpen a pencil, or to make a comment.
  • Keep chairs pushed in when not sitting in them.
  • Keep hands, feet and personal items to self.
  • Speak respectfully to others including teachers, support staff and other
    students.
  • Turn completed homework in at the beginning of the day.
  • Follow PBIS rules of being responsible, respectful, ready and safe.

Homework Policy:

I expect homework to be turned in completed at the beginning of each day.
If the homework is not completed, the student is expected to let me know as soon as they come to school. I will take the homework and grade it as is. If there is time over the course of the marking period, the student will be given the opportunity to redo or finish the assignment for a grade of up to 80%.

There are two exceptions to that rule. One is that there has been an emergency in the family. I would expect the adult in charge to send a note or an email to me to make me aware of the situation. The other is that the student had difficulty understanding the assignment given. For this, I would also expect
a note or an email telling me the section that caused the confusion. I will only have recess time to help the student with the missing work. I keep the student long enough to complete the section/homework that wasn’t understood or completed the previous evening.

Specials Schedule:

My students follow their homeroom teachers’ specials schedule. I have a chart In my room to help all of us to stay on track.

Supply List:

I do not have a class supply list. I provide items needed for each student in my classroom.
