HMJ EMPLOYMENT COALITION TRANSITION FAIR

HMJ EMPLOYMENT COALITION TRANSITION FAIR

The Huntingdon/Mifflin/Juniata Employment Coalition has been working hard to put together what we hope will become our first annual Transition Fair.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in and around the Juniata Valley Behavior and Development Services offices at 152 E. Market St., Lower Level, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Registration will begin at 9:00 AM. A few vendors, including OVR and CareerLink, will be available for students to interact with until the first session begins at approximately 10:00 AM, allowing some flexibility for staggered arrivals for those traveling farther. We plan to rotate through five short sessions (20–25 minutes each) to help maintain student engagement. Lunch will be provided, and we expect to wrap up by 1:00 PM to allow time for travel back to your schools.

We anticipate being able to accommodate approximately 80 students this first year. To ensure equitable participation, we suggest that each school limit attendance to 10–15 students. Sessions will be geared toward students with IEPs who are planning to leave school either this year or next. At our most recent HMJ Employment Coalition meeting, we identified a particularly good target audience: students receiving supplemental learning support services who may not currently have an open case with OVR.

Tentative session topics include:

  • Landlords, Leases, and Neighbors
  • Online Safety
  • I Got the Interview—Now What?
  • Healthy Relationships in the Workplace
  • The PAES Lab
